These crispy fried tacos are a delicious twist on the classic taco. For a bold and flavorful taste, the beef filling is seasoned with chili powder, cumin, and paprika, while the crispy fried shell provides a satisfying crunch. To finish, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomato, onion, and cilantro.

Ingredients

12 corn tortillas
1/2 cup diced onion
1/4 tsp salt
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup diced onion
2 cups vegetable oil
1 pound ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup diced tomato
1/2 tsp paprika
1 teaspoon cumin (ground)
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1/4 tsp black pepper

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes

Instructions

Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned.
Cook until the onion and garlic are softened in the skillet.
Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
Set aside the skillet after it has been removed from the heat.
In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, heat the vegetable oil.
Fry the corn tortillas in batches until crispy and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Remove the tortillas from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Place a spoonful of the beef mixture, shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomato, diced onion, and chopped cilantro in each tortilla.
Fold the tortilla in half and use a toothpick to secure it.
Return the tortillas to the hot oil and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove the tortillas from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Serve the fried tacos hot, with the toothpicks removed.
